My friend Jen had me etch the glass for her on these cute blue plates!
Around the rim they say, "You are special" and in the center they say, "Today is your day!"
Jen chose blue plates so they could be the "blue plate specials" to be used on special occasions for family members. Birthdays, baptisms, graduations, milestones, anniversaries, etc.
The blue plate before
The vinyl I cut for the plate
Apply the vinyl on the plate
I didn't take a picture of the etching cream I used but at this point you spread etching cream all over the vinyl.
Make sure the vinyl is down everywhere with no air bubbles and leave it on for however long the instructions indicate.
You can get etching cream at hobby stores like Micheal's or Joann's.
After the time is up, rinse off the etching cream and dry the plate with a towel. If it is still wet at all you will not be able to see the etching.
Remove the vinyl and your blue plate special is done! A very cute and easy way to start a sweet family tradition!
To purchase the vinyl stencil only use the pay pal button below. Please indicate the diameter you would like the image to be! The cost is $6 and includes your shipping
If you would like a custom plate stencil I can create one for you (wording around the plate and in the middle) for $12 which will also include your shipping.
Please note that these stencils are for one time use only!

ReplyDeleteyour awesome...thanks!
ReplyDeleteThat is super cute, If you don't mind me asking what font did you use for your lettering? I love it.
ReplyDeleteam curious about the font as well!
ReplyDeleteThe font is SP Pretty Purkey!
ReplyDeleteSo you can use glass etching creme on things other than glass? is that plate ceramic? it doesn't look like glass. very cute! we had one of the red commercially made ones growing up and we loved it!

If it was ceramic (not sure) it worked like a charm!
ReplyDeleteI am trying to get this font--is it part of a Cricut cartridge? In my Google search it appears to be a commercial font, but I can't find it anywhere. I'd love it if you could help. I have a St. Patrick's Day gift to make tomorrow and am crossing my fingers I can locate it in time!
ReplyDeleteBTW, this project is such a great idea and I love the "blue plate special" idea! ;)
I was wondering if you have to cut each letter of the vinyl out? Would love to do this for my sisters in law's birthdays this year, but wondering how much work it really is before I buy the vinyl. Thanks! Jen
