No Pinching!

REVERSE STENCILING?
I saw this on, well you know...Pinterest...and I wanted to try it!

This canvas has been sitting in my garage for months now. I bought it for $2 at a Garage Sale and knew the day would come that I would turn it into something!

I cut out something St. Patricks Day-ish. I wanted it to look like a stencil that was falling off the sides of the canvas.

After I got the vinyl on where I wanted it, I painted all of the exposed canvas.

I want to say right up front that I am not 100% in love with the results and I will tell you what I would do differently next time at the end of the post.

I gave it a good second coat of paint.

Once it was dry I peeled off the vinyl so the picture underneath would show.

So here is my no pinching sign that I only sort of like. I haven't given up on the technique though. I think when I try it again I would not use such large vinyl lettering. The fact that so much of the canvas's original picture show is distracting. I also think black paint would provide more of a contrast than the colors I picked.

Baby Legs

NOT SO GIRLY BABY LEGS!
One of the things I miss not having any daughters is going insane with cutesy over the top bows and ruffles and and all things girly.

Maybe it is a good thing. I would go broke buying every pink and bedazzled thing I could get my hands on and my daughter would be a spoiled mess...but still...

One of the cute things I have seen that are usually made for girls and occasionally for boys are baby legs! They are like cute little leg warmers for baby!

They keep chubby little legs warm when baby is wearing a onsie (which makes diaper changes so easy) and when baby is older and crawling they can protect little legs from cold floors too!

I decided I wanted some baby legs for my little Cort and went about looking for them. The ones I found for boys were either boring or too expensive (up to $14 for a pair!)

So I did what any good craft blogger would do, I went to Pinterest and found myself a tutorial. Several tutorials really and taught myself how to make my own.

The first thing to do is find a pair of cute socks. The ones I used were not super long because Cort is still a little nugget at 3 1/2 months old!

Cute pirate socks. We are all about everything pirate at the Wresh house.

Cut the sock as shown above. Don't you love my photography and editing skills? That is my toe on the bottom of the picture. I like to craft sitting on my bed while I watch Maury...but I digress.

Toss the toe and heel part of the sock. Take that little middle piece and fold over itself (or in half) so the right side is showing. It is hard to tell on these socks because that piece is solid black.

Turn the long part of the sock inside out and stick the little folded over piece inside. The folded edge should go inside. Line up your edges and pin them.

There should be three layers pinned together. The outside long piece and the two layers of the little folded over piece...stay with me now.

Now sew with about a 1/4 seam allowance all the way around.

See! You made a cute little cuff!

Cort decided to pair his totally rad pirate baby legs with a cute Rock N Roll onsie. Shut it about his little bald spot. His cousins Kelsea and Brenn think his baby legs are HOT!

I think the lesson we have all learned her is not only are baby legs a totally trendy way to keep your legs warm...cute chicks dig them too!

Vinyl Ceiling Medallions

ALL ABOUT THE DETAILS!

It is right? I love the little things that make a space special and can be done on a budget. These vinyl ceiling medallion decals certainly fit the bill!

Applying the decal was quick and the circle guide in the middle made it easy to center.

Take a look

Here is our front room light before the decal.

Cool decal!

Just pull the backing off of your decal...

and place it on the ceiling.

Use a credit card to smooth and transfer the decal onto the ceiling.

Peel the application tape off of the decal.

Press the decal into any texture on your ceiling.

Cute!

A closer view.

ANOTHER ONE

I did another one in a different style. Check it out.

The Before

The After...cute huh?

A closer view. I likee.
